Bluesky Integration
Post text, images, and video to Bluesky. Bluesky is the simplest integration here — no OAuth app to approve, and no per-post settings to think about.
At a glance
| What it's for | Short posts with optional images or video. |
|---|---|
| Post types | Text, Image, Video |
| Account needed | Any Bluesky account. |
| How you connect | An App Password you generate in Bluesky's settings — not OAuth. Your real password is never used. |
| Content archiving | Published posts are backed up automatically. |
Connecting your account
Bluesky uses an App Password rather than OAuth. In the Bluesky app, go to Settings, then Privacy and Security, then App Passwords, and create one. Paste it into Greenwood Social along with your handle.
Your real account password is never used and never stored. An App Password can be revoked from Bluesky at any time without touching the rest of your account.
What you type, and where it shows up
Bluesky posts are text plus optional media. Hashtags and URLs written in your text are linked automatically by Bluesky, which is why there's no separate link field — put the URL in your Content and it becomes clickable.
| You type | Text post | Image post | Video post |
|---|---|---|---|
| Title | Not used. | Not used. | Not used. |
| Content | Required — The post text.no hard limit — long posts thread automatically | Required — The post text.max 300 characters | Required — The post text.max 300 characters |

As on X, a text-only post longer than the limit is published as a self-reply thread rather than rejected. Posts with media attached can't thread, so the limit applies there.
Media requirements
| Images per post | up to 4 (at least 1) |
|---|---|
| Image formats | JPG, PNG, GIF, WEBP |
| Max image size | 976.6 KB |
| Video formats | MP4, MOV |
| Max video size | 100.0 MB |
| Video length | up to 1 minute |
| If your file doesn't fit | We convert it for you where we can — images become JPG and video becomes MP4. Files we can't bring within these limits are reported before the post is scheduled, not after. |
Per-post options
Bluesky exposes no per-post options to partner tools through its API — every post uses the shared fields above.
These are the options Bluesky exposes to partner tools through its API. Platforms often test new settings inside their own app long before opening them to tools like ours — when that happens the option simply isn't available to us until they publish it.
Scheduling
Schedule Bluesky posts for any future time — see Scheduled Posting for how times, timezones, and cancellation work.
Metrics
| Metric | Status |
|---|---|
| Likes & comments | Available |
| Views / plays | Not offered by the platform |
| Reach / impressions | Not offered by the platform |
| Follower count | Available |
| Shares / reposts / saves | Available |
| Comment text (needed to read & reply to comments) | Available |
Likes, replies, reposts, and follower counts are public on the AT Protocol, so we can read them. Views and reach are not exposed to anyone — Bluesky doesn't compute them.
