YouTube Integration
Upload video to your YouTube channel on a schedule, with the title, description, tags, privacy, and licensing settings you'd normally set by hand in YouTube Studio.
At a glance
| What it's for | Long-form and Shorts video. |
|---|---|
| Post types | Video |
| Account needed | A YouTube channel. New channels must be verified by YouTube before the API will accept public uploads. |
| How you connect | OAuth — you approve Greenwood Social on Google's site. |
| Content archiving | Published posts are backed up automatically. |
Connecting your account
Add YouTube from your Accounts page and approve the connection with the Google account that owns the channel. If you manage several channels under one Google login, make sure you pick the right one during approval.
A brand-new or unverified channel can only upload private videos until YouTube verifies it. That is a YouTube restriction — verify the channel in YouTube Studio first if you plan to publish publicly.
What you type, and where it shows up
YouTube is the platform that uses the most of your post. Title and Content map cleanly onto the video title and description, and Tags do double duty — as YouTube's own keyword field and as hashtags in the description, where YouTube renders the first three above the title.
| You type | Video post |
|---|---|
| Title | Required — The video title, shown under the player.max 100 characters |
| Content | The video description.max 5,000 characters |
| Tags | Sent as YouTube keyword tags (metadata) and appended as #hashtags to the description — YouTube renders the first three above the title. |
| Link | Not used — URLs in a caption are not clickable on this platform. |
| Privacy | Public, unlisted, or private on the channel. |
Media requirements
| Video formats | MP4, MOV, AVI, WMV, FLV, WEBM |
|---|---|
| Max video size | 128.0 GB |
| Video length | up to 15 minutes |
| If your file doesn't fit | We convert it for you where we can — video becomes MP4. Files we can't bring within these limits are reported before the post is scheduled, not after. |
A vertical video under 60 seconds is published as a Short automatically — that is YouTube's own classification, not a separate post type here.
Per-post options
| Option | What it does | Default | Applies to |
|---|---|---|---|
Made for KidsmadeForKids | Designate this video as made for children (required by FTC) | Off | All post types |
Allow Embeddingembeddable | Allow this video to be embedded on other websites | On | All post types |
Show Public StatspublicStatsViewable | Display detailed statistics publicly on the watch page | On | All post types |
Creative CommonsuseCreativeCommons | Use Creative Commons license instead of standard YouTube license | Off | All post types |
These are the options YouTube exposes to partner tools through its API. Platforms often test new settings inside their own app long before opening them to tools like ours — when that happens the option simply isn't available to us until they publish it.
Made for Kids is an FTC requirement, not a preference. Setting it correctly matters — YouTube disables comments and personalized ads on videos marked for children.
Scheduling
Schedule uploads for any future time — see Scheduled Posting for how times, timezones, and cancellation work.
Metrics
| Metric | Status |
|---|---|
| Likes & comments | Available |
| Views / plays | Available |
| Reach / impressions | Available |
| Follower count | Available |
| Shares / reposts / saves | Not offered by the platform |
| Comment text (needed to read & reply to comments) | Available |
Where it works
| In the app | Create a post or schedule one, and select this account. Bulk sessions work too. |
|---|---|
| API | Post and schedule through the REST API with the same fields shown above. |
| MCP (Claude, ChatGPT, and others) | Connect Greenwood Social as an MCP connector and ask your assistant to draft and schedule posts. |
If YouTube needs a different title from the rest of your platforms, publish it as its own post. That takes seconds when you're working through an AI assistant over MCP.
